EDUCATION OF THE FUTURE

I was asked by a school creator/director what it means to be an educated person of the 21st century. With Enki's help - here is how we responded. Does our educational system see children as human beings, or as commodities, or producers for the system? Do you ask your school's faculty what their goal is in educating your child?

Our job as educators is to help the student find out more of who they are and then to help them develop and express who they are with confidence, love, beauty and joy and by providing them with a positive foundation.

Knowledge is power, but more importantly is how you use it with wisdom. One cannot teach wisdom, but hopefully it will be able to be developed through a nurturing educational environment, from trial and error without condemnation - through love and compassion and with the understanding that each individual progresses at their own rate, in their own timing.

Respect for this individuality is primary in developing healthy, whole people. This is the preferred over comparisons to others, which devalues the individual. Education needs to be creative, exciting, fun and flexible, or you've lost them!

SELF-VALUE:

A sense of self-value (self-love) and trust and enjoyment with the self to accomplish whatever goals one chooses is another key ingredient in a good education. And, faith in knowing that the self can be led to the proper others to assist in whatever is needed. Autonomy, self-empowerment, imagination, and individuality is vital if we are to usher in new generations who can think for themselves and not become puppets. People who will know how to educate themselves, not only depend upon others or institutions to "do it for them," coddle them or simply dictate.

And, under this heading, include the ability and necessity for each child to choose their focus, each year, and develop an individualized cirriculum (within the available parameters your school can offer) to fulfill their curiosity and hands-on experience. Interests change, and edcuation needs to be able to be fluid enough to allow experimentation with as much of the world as possible with children's own creativity in order to know what they truly can and will do as adults. (And to know that they can be supported in their experimentations.) And full disclosure of all knowledge/information - no secrets, no censoring. All can be permitted - including sensuality, sexuality, all that the human condition includes needs to be celebrated, not knocked down or suppressed!

Education consists of learning what has come before, what is presently occurring, learning from the past in order to create a better today and future. Education needs to be well-rounded, to include, but not only focus on academics, the arts, sports, careers and workplaces, but how societies and the planet functions (economically, socially, politically, culturally, environmentally).

GLOBAL:

We are now in a time of the internet and global connections - we are now a global society and education needs to incorporate this on a daily basis - interaction with individuals, groups, businesses, educational institutions, etc. through the computer and in person. In seeing how we are now a global community, it will be important to educate on how to proceed in creating a safe sharing, harmonious and compassionate world, decreasing fear of what is different, and by creating products that will help everyone become self-sufficient in terms of education, food, shelter, health and economy. This would include volunteering for local charities or organizations, hospitals, workplaces, etc., for experience and their personal donation and responsibility for the planet.

SPIRITUALITY:

One of the most important things lacking in education is a true sense of spiritually belonging. Not necessarily in the religious way - but spiritually. Those lacking a feeling of belonging to a tribe can find great support and love knowing there is truly only one tribe - from the One Source. This is where one is continually replenished without having to take energy from others. It is always there, always abundant and it is all yours. This is true strength.

Spirituality means a connection to whatever a person feels is God, the Source, for them. A way to meditate, focus on their own inner Godness, learning to trust their own intuition and guidance. This practice will help them in life no matter how much memorization of facts they accomplish, or education they receive. Learning the process of life itself - transformation through birth and the illusion of death, understanding and knowing what creates illness, health, how to assist those in transformation in openness and honesty. Not to fear life's processes but to embrace them and see them for the miracles and teachers they are. All will be enhanced by a solid spiritual foundation. And, of course, this can be accomplished through many channels (pun intended).

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A PERSON OF THE 21ST CENTURY?

To be a person who:
is in love with life
sees the beauty in all life
is spiritually aware
confident in self
autonomous and free
who expresses their divine self
interacts, as an equal, with the world and universe
takes personal responsibility first then works locally and/or
globally, while realizing that each individual is creating
hir own reality and respects that, but can work together
one who respects the Earth and can help the planet continue
in a healthy way
is compassionate
communicates
always working towards finding peaceful and cooperative solutions
with integrity.

With these traits in the next generations, all will be gifted by having an even more wonderful global and universal community. Start today.
